Author: A Pound of Cocaine Found Hidden in Car
Idaho Falls Police took a report Tuesday morning of more than a pound of cocaine found inside the engine compartment of an 82-year-old woman’s car being serviced at B.A. Wackerli on North Holmes.
Police believe it’s likely the cocaine was hidden in the car by an unknown person prior to it being purchased by the woman 11 years ago. The car was a former rental.
According to the reports, officers were contacted by a mechanic at Wackerli’s around 10:49 a.m. about a suspicious package wrapped in black electrical tape found in front of the motor by the radiator.
Police field tested the substance and confirmed it to be cocaine. It weighed 1.16 pounds.

Police Investigate Copper Cable Theft
Idaho Falls Police are investigating the theft of five 50-foot and 3/4-inch diameter copper cables valued at about $2,500 from the 2400 block of South Yellowstone Avenue.
The cables were cut and taken from the AT&T business, located at 2432 S. Yellowstone Ave., sometime in the past week.
Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contact the IFPD at 529-1200 or Crimestoppers at 522-1983.

Injury accident Car vs. Motorcycle 600 Yellowstone. This investigation is ongoing and appears to be a road rage incident in which the driver of the car and the operator of the motorcycle exchanged words back and forth while going down Yellowstone. The witnesses indicated that the car pulled in front of the motorcycle and slammed on its brakes for no apparent reason causing the motorcycle to slam into the rear of the car. The operator of the motorcycle was transported to PMC with unknown injuries. This investigation is ongoing as there are several more witnesses to be interviewed. Officers were conducting house checks with Juvenile Probation at an address on Blue Grouse and contacted adult, Bryan Silva, who was arrested on 2 outstanding warrants. A suspected controlled substance and paraphernalia was found in Silva’s property and he was additionally charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Officers responded to the 300 block of W. Clark for a disturbance. On arrival both parties were contacted and denied any physical contact. Both parties separated and officers cleared. About an hour later, the same male reported being stabbed near the Center St. underpass. He has reported two white men passed him, they exchanged words and one of the men stabbed him. He was transported to the ER with non-life threatening injuries. It is not known if the two cases are related. The investigation continues.
Officers responded to 1600 block of N. Garfield for a disturbance involving five people and a knife and bat. On arrival four of the suspects had left the area. No one was injured and the disturbance appears mutual with weapons involved. The investigation continues.
